    Tom Caska

    B.Av (Hons) UNSW, MBA (Executive) AGSM candidate

    Chief Executive Officer

    Tom has a strong technical background in Aviation and emerging technologies and a real passion for using innovative technology for positive change.

    He has worked in multiple facets of the aviation industry including operational airline flying, fleet and technical development and aviation business. He has flown for QantasLink and has worked in business development with Hawker Pacific. During his time at Qantas, Tom managed a project that saw the introduction of the Apple iPad across the entire Dash 8 fleet. This project proved to be great success and significantly enhanced flight operations, safety of flight and at the same time reduced the carbon footprint with minimal paper usage.

    Tom is guest lecturer at the University of New South Wales teaching subjects on Unmanned flight. He also represents Aerolens Group on the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Standards Sub-committee, where he helps to develop regulations and standards pertaining to UAS, including UAS operations, remote pilot licensing and unmanned aircraft certification, manufacture and maintenance.

    At Aerolens Tom leads the charge in creating new innovative ways to solve real world problems. He has a high passion for life and enjoys a healthy lifestyle surfing, sailing and mountain biking, when time permits.

    He holds an Australian Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), has over 3,500 flying hours and a Bachelor of Aviation from the University of New South Wales. He is currently a candidate in the Executive MBA programme at the Australian Graduate School of Management.

  • Matt Dunn

    Matt Dunn

    Chief Technical Officer

    Matt Dunn comes from a strong technical background and is motivated by finding innovative solutions by combining current and emerging technologies. For the past decade Matt has performed a technical role with the Commonwealth Bureau of Meteorology, Australia’s national meteorological agency. In this time, he lived and worked in remote locations throughout Australia and its external territories whilst performing complex duties involving data acquisition using remote sensing technologies. He has experience in the installation and calibration of meteorological equipment used directly by the aviation, maritime and defence sectors as well as for the benefits of the general public and emergency services.

    Previously Matt had roles with the UNSW Department of Aviation and Qantas. He also represents Aerolens Group on the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Standards Sub-committee. At Aerolens Matt overseas all technical aspects of data acquisition and analysis in order to solve real world problems. Outside of his technical duties and responsibilities, Matt enjoys adventure travel, reading and writing and the occasional round of golf.

    Matt is a graduate of the University of New South Wales and holds a Bachelor of Aviation (Management) with First Class Honours.

  • Prashanth Shanmugan

    Prashanth Shanmugan

    Chief Operating Officer

    Prashanth "PJ" Shanmugan is an experienced strategist, government affairs and international business advisory specialist. His diverse career has encompassed roles with international organisations such as the World Bank Group, Royal Dutch Shell, and Egon Zehnder International.

    PJ is currently a non-executive director of the Defence Talent Incubator, WithYouWithMe, and is a Patron of Taronga Zoo Foundation.

    He is a recipient of numerous honours and awards including the Centenary Medal and was a Young Australian of the Year finalist.

    PJ graduated with honours in international relations and wrote his thesis on the changing nature of warfare. A passionate advocate of Australian football, he plays for Sydney University and supports the GWS Giants.

  • Howard Winkler

    Howard Winkler

    CPL, ATPL, CMIR

    President Aerolens America

    Howard comes to Aerolens with over 30 years of experience in the aviation industry. He is an Air Transport Pilot of both fixed-wing and rotary wing aircraft with a combined flying time of more than 10,000 hours.

    Based in Connecticut, USA, Howard held the position of Manager Flight Operations with GE. During this time he oversaw the implementation of NBC’s electronic news gathering systems and special-mission aircraft.

    At AEROLENS, Howard is responsible for business-development in the USA.

  • Mark Puterflam

    Mark Puterflam

    Commercial Director

    Like Aerolens’ founders, Mark attended the University of New South Wales. He graduated with degrees in Commerce and Law. Mark is also a Chartered Accountant and has more than 20 years of experience in banking and finance. Half of Mark’s career to date was with GE Capital where he led the development of GE Capital’s corporate aircraft financing business in Australia and New Zealand.

    Mark enjoys the challenge of fostering growth in new businesses.
