Tom has a strong technical background in Aviation and emerging technologies and a real passion for using innovative technology for positive change.
He has worked in multiple facets of the aviation industry including operational airline flying, fleet and technical development and aviation business. He has flown for QantasLink and has worked in business development with Hawker Pacific. During his time at Qantas, Tom managed a project that saw the introduction of the Apple iPad across the entire Dash 8 fleet. This project proved to be great success and significantly enhanced flight operations, safety of flight and at the same time reduced the carbon footprint with minimal paper usage.
Tom is guest lecturer at the University of New South Wales teaching subjects on Unmanned flight. He also represents Aerolens Group on the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Standards Sub-committee, where he helps to develop regulations and standards pertaining to UAS, including UAS operations, remote pilot licensing and unmanned aircraft certification, manufacture and maintenance.
At Aerolens Tom leads the charge in creating new innovative ways to solve real world problems. He has a high passion for life and enjoys a healthy lifestyle surfing, sailing and mountain biking, when time permits.
He holds an Australian Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), has over 3,500 flying hours and a Bachelor of Aviation from the University of New South Wales. He is currently a candidate in the Executive MBA programme at the Australian Graduate School of Management.
